B i o g r a p h y

From the Nation's Capital to the Big Apple, Ed Vinson enjoys an extremely active and diverse musical career.  Mr. Vinson is the principal tubist for the Distinguished Concerts Orchestra in New York City and he teaches extensively in the Northern Virginia/Washington DC area.  As a performer, Mr. Vinson has performed with the Baltimore, Virginia, West Virginia, Albany, and Charleston Symphonies, the United States Air Force Heritage of America band, the Washington Symphonic Brass, as well as the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. Mr. Vinson received his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University, master’s degree from the Juilliard School, and a professional studies diploma from the Mannes College of music. While attending Juilliard, Vinson toured Europe as the principal tuba of the Juilliard Orchestra in celebration of Juilliard's centennial anniversary.   Mr. Vinson has received high honors as a tuba soloist winning concerto competitions at both the Brevard Music Center and Louisiana State University, 2nd place at the Leonard Falcone International Tuba Euphonium competition and in 2002, Vinson was named the Low Brass winner of the Yamaha Young Performing Artist competition.  As an instructor and educator Mr. Vinson maintains a large studio of private students and coaches low brass sectionals at several northern Virginia area public schools. He currently resides in Falls Church, VA with his daughter Liana, and Cheeto the cat.
